About Michael & His Works
I can remember at age 11 visiting the Pyramid of the Sun in Mexico. Ideas from art, architecture & archeology came together as one and have thus influenced my life and career. Being a full-time artist for over 30 years, I enjoy looking back in retrospect at the work I have created and look forward to the new work to come.
About my sculptures...
Wood and stone have become my main choice of medium. My sculptures can be described as the joining of anthropomorphic and architectonic imagery. I create both static and kinetic works that are influenced by the simplicity and balance of Asian objects. My designs in wood and stone enhance the natural beauty of the elements used in the sculptures. My background... I graduated with an undergrad degree in painting from Appalachian State in Boone, NC and a masters degree in sculpture from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. In my early career I was awarded an NEA Emerging Artist Grant. Today, my works are widely collected throughout the US and Europe. Please note: The sculptures on this site are works that have been previously sold. I would be happy to discuss a specific commission or to supply photos of current works available for purchase.
Prices range from $650 for smaller works to $4,000 for larger works. Please contact me for more information: |
